The Tac Cat

Mission ready since 2006, the TAC-CAT is a custom built multi-purpose response vehicle, built over a multi-terrain tracked skid loader. It is designed to assist SWAT teams or Bomb Squads in some very hazardous environments. In its basic mission ready configuration, the TAC-CAT will penetrate and remove fences, punch through walls or doors, and deliver tear gas to the interior of a structure in one downrange operation. The attached claw makes quick work of just about any wall, door, or other barrier that suspects use for cover. Narcotics teams will use the unit's claw for pulling armored doors off drug houses, and individuals will be rescued as the TAC-CAT provides cover for responding officers and paramedics.

The TAC-CAT is outfitted with a rugged PTZ camera, three claw cameras, and a rear view camera all capable of infrared operation. The TAC-CAT also has a DVR for mission recording capabilities.

Depending on a department's budget, the TAC-CAT is available in armor meeting either NIJ Level III or Level IV standards. In its heaviest configuration (Level IV) the TAC-CAT will withstand high powered, high velocity, military armor-piercing and incendiary rounds in calibers up to 7.62 x 54 from an SVD Dragunov (20-inch barrel).

The TAC-CAT's hydraulic arm and claw configuration is designed for law enforcement use. It is manufactured by a company that specializes in building the hydraulic claws and other gripping tools used in the logging industry for rock and tree handling. The TAC-CAT's claw is attached to an arm that can be built to extend up to 20 feet. The claw and arm configuration also function as a ram when in the claw is in the closed position. Once the claw is punched through an exterior wall or door, the operator has the ability to use the 3 color video cameras mounted in the claw to see the entire room. There is also an option for the video image to be transmitted to the incident command post or to other team members, which will allow them to monitor the action in real time.

The claw is modified with a custom gas injection system that will fire up to 4 gas canisters individually or all at once. There are several different gas options available to suit a department's needs.

To make the TAC-CAT more versatile, it has the ability to be fitted with a remote wireless system. This wireless system will allow an operator the ability to control the TAC CAT remotely from up to a mile away which will aid department EOD / Bomb Squads during render safe procedures on large scale incidents.

There are several large LE agencies in Southern California using the TAC-CAT in the field. For a list of references please contact us.
